Court Appointed Guardians Ad Litem Serving DuPage County, IL and Wheaton, IL
As part of our commitment to helping children, the family law attorneys at Andrew Cores Family Law Group often serve as guardians ad litem for child custody cases in DuPage County. A guardian ad litem is a representative who protects the child's interests in court. They can be requested by either parent or appointed by a judge.
Because of our extensive knowledge of Illinois family law and our reputation in the legal community, we are appointed as guardians ad litem numerous times each year.
A guardian ad litem may be appointed in any case involving the welfare of a child, whether it is custody, visitation, or domestic/child abuse. The guardian ad litem will investigate the facts of the case and report to the court via written report or testimony. The guardian ad litem becomes the eyes and ears of the Court. He or she will make recommendations to the judge based on the findings of the investigation.
The guardian ad litem is not an advocate or attorney for either parent; his or her sole responsibility is the best interest of the child. Once the case is concluded, the guardian ad litem may be discharged.
